Disney has released no shortage of live action remakes of their more classic films in the past several years, and fans are rejoicing as yet another one is in the works; Mulan is set to it theaters on March 27th of next year. Disney came out with the original animated Mulan in 1998, so now for those that loved the movie as children, the nostalgia is hitting hard.
But some are a little protective of their memories of the original film and are becoming skeptical of the changes to be made in the new film. Judging by the trailer, the new film will not include the beloved character Mushu, or the classic songs sung by the characters in the 1998 Mulan. The remake is expected be more true to the Chinese folk story the “Ballad of Mulan,” about the Chinese warrior Hua Mulan, rather than to the original film.
Although different from the original Mulan film that is so nostalgic for some, we are ready for a new and fresh take on the beloved tale.
